The Jujutsu Kaisen fanbook is Gege Akutami's own companion to the series: part character guide, part handbook to the world of curses, part look back at the early chapters. Akutami worked on every part of it, and Shueisha billed it as a book made almost entirely of new information. It came out in Japan on 4 March 2021, the same day as volume 15, and VIZ Media's English translation followed in 2024. Both editions carry the cover Akutami drew for it: Yuji Itadori and Ryomen Sukuna.

The characters come first. Akutami answers more than 350 new questions about over 70 characters, from Yuji, Megumi, Nobara and Gojo to the Kyoto students, the curse users, the cursed spirits and Sukuna himself, and some profiles appear here for the first time.
Then the world of jujutsu. A guide to the terms and settings, from curses and Jujutsu High to cursed spirits, cursed techniques and cursed tools, including many details first revealed through interviews with Akutami for this book. After that, Akutami looks back on every chapter from volume 0 to chapter 64 (volume 8), one by one.
And Akutami in person. An interview traces the author's roots in three areas: films, manga and anime. In a special talk with Tite Kubo, creator of Bleach, each artist drew a favourite character from the other's series for the book.
Which edition?
Same JJK fanbook, two languages: both editions have 232 pages and the same sections.
- English edition: VIZ Media's translation, from its Shonen Jump imprint, published as "Jujutsu Kaisen: The Official Character Guide" (US release 23 April 2024). Choose it to read every answer and note in English.
- Japanese edition: Shueisha's 「呪術廻戦 公式ファンブック」 from the Jump Comics line, the book the English edition was translated from. The text is in Japanese; furigana (small kana readings) appear on some terms but not on every kanji. Choose it if you read Japanese or collect the Japanese books.
